[tip] How do I delete old mxORB log files?

If you have configured mxORB to perform logging to a file you may want to periodically delete old log files to save space on your server. Follow the instructions below to download a script and configure a scheduled task that will do this.

Note: If you are using mxORB 2.3 you can skip steps 1 and 2.

  1. Download the log file deletion script files mxORBLogFileDelete.zip
  2. Extract the contents of the file to the mxORB tools directory (usually C:\Program Files\mxORB\Tools)
  3. Open the Scheduled Tasks Control Panel applet (Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks)
  4. Click Add Scheduled Task to start the Scheduled Task Wizard
  5. Click Next, and then click Browse and locate the mxORBLogFileDelete.bat file you extracted in step 2, click Open when done
  6. You can optionally change the name for the task on the next page of the wizard
  7. Select the Monthly option in the Perform this task list
  8. Click Next, select the time and day that the task should be performed (recommended settings are 01:00 on the first day of the month) and leave all other settings as default
  9. Click Next, specify a user account for the task - this should be an administrative account and can be the same account used for the mxORB COM+ application
  10. Click Next, ensure all settings are correct and then click Finish to create the scheduled task

The scheduled task will delete all files in the mxORB LogFiles folder (usually C:\Program Files\mxORB\LogFiles) that are over 30 days old.

Usage of these script files is subject to the same terms and conditions as those contained in the mxORB licence agreement.
