[faq] How do I start the SMTP service?

There are two ways to start the SMTP service, using the Windows interface or using a command prompt.

Using the Windows Interface

1. Open Services (located in Control Panel, Administrative Tools)
2. Right click on Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) in the details pane amd click Start
3. The Status column in the details pane will change to ‘Started’ when the service has started

Using the Command Prompt

1. Open a Command Prompt
2. Type: net start smtpsvc and press enter
