mxORB 2.2 available now!
mxORB 2.2 is now available for download here. It is strongly recommended that all existing mxORB users update their installation as soon as possible.
Important: updating mxORB involves restructuring the registry entries used to store configuration settings. It is therefore recommended that you create a backup of your settings using the Export Settings Wizard before performing the update.
Upgrading from mxORB 2.1 to 2.2
To update mxORB 2.1 to 2.2 follow the steps below. Note that the upgrade will involve a short period of downtime for your mail server and may possibly require a reboot.
- Log-on as Administrator on the server where mxORB is installed
- Download the mxORB 2.2 update (mxORBUpdate22.exe) setup program here
- Stop the SMTP service (see [faq] How do I stop the SMTP service? for more information)
- Ensure the mxORB configuration tool is not running
- Run the setup program downloaded in step 1 and follow the on-screen prompts
- Allow the setup program to restart your server if necessary
- Start the SMTP service (see [faq] How do I start the SMTP service? for more information)
mxORB 2.2 should then be installed on your system. To verify, check the version number on the About tab of the configuration tool.
Upgrading from mxORB 2.0 to 2.2
It is not possible to update from mxORB 2.0 to 2.2 directly, you must first update to mxORB 2.1. To update mxORB 2.0 to 2.1, then to 2.2 follow the steps below. Note that the upgrade will involve a short period of downtime for your mail server and may possibly require a reboot.
- Log-on as Administrator on the server where mxORB is installed
- Download the mxORB 2.1 update (mxORBUpdate21.exe) setup program here
- Stop the SMTP service (see [faq] How do I stop the SMTP service? for more information)
- Ensure the mxORB configuration tool is not running
- Run the setup program downloaded in step 1 and follow the on-screen prompts
- Allow the setup program to restart your server if necessary
- Follow the instructions for updating mxORB 2.1 to 2.2 above
What's New in mxORB 2.2?
The following additions, modifications and fixes have been made for this release of mxORB.
- Added recipient email address whitelist
- Added recipient email address blacklist
- Added Internet whitelist support
- Added ‘Save original message (including attachments)’ option to the Attachment Filter ‘Deliver to the recipient with attachments removed’ action
- Added spamware plugin filter to check Message-ID and X-Mailer headers for known spamware signatures
- Added Zafi virus filter to the anti-virus plugin and updated Bagle, Netsky and MyDoom filters
- Added Server Bindings settings to integrate configuration of SMTP event bindings (removing the need for mxEventSinkManager and the command line tools)
